A Little Cheesecake

I was a dragging a bit last week and spent Friday afternoon catching up on some rest.  Saturday, I met my mom and Chris at Little Bear for coffee and cheesecake.  My Butter Pecan Frappe and blueberry cheesecake was so delicious! Poor Roger spent most of Saturday working to get our sewer drain cleaned.

Later that evening I headed to Monique's for a game night.  We played Mario Life and Candy Land.  AJ had a great time, and I am sure we will be having many more game nights!

I found a home for one of the kittens this weekend, the three others spent some time in the house, they are so funny to watch run and chase after each other.  Momma goes Friday to be spayed.

Joy in the Little Things

Slow Down:
It truly is amazing how exhaustion can wear on our minds and bodies. Finding joy in the small things is nearly impossible when we don’t have time to slow down and even realize they exist.

Disconnect:
I believe that one of the best things we can do for our families and ourselves is to disconnect from our devices. Leave your phone at home, close your laptop, get off of social media, turn off the TV, and take out the earbuds.

Go for a walk:

Greet the morning sun.
Pick some wildflowers.
Listen to the sweet song of a mama bird.
Look at the detailed intricacy of a beautiful butterfly.
Or that insect that seems to be perfectly camouflaged,

Rest:
Our quality of sleep affects our ability to think clearly and appreciate the little joys in life. There is a link between sleep deprivation and depression. Take time to get adequate rest.

Be Grateful:
Before we realize it, we allow tiny inconveniences and disappointments to steal our joy. I encourage you to pause for a moment and think upon everything that you have to be grateful for.  Sweet friend, we’ve got to stop grumbling and complaining. If you woke up this morning with breath in your lungs, you are blessed.

Serve Others:
Although our culture often attempts to make us believe otherwise, we were actually created to serve each other and not ourselves. Once we begin to take the focus off of us, we can clearly see the needs of those around us. Open the door for someone. Offer to carry an elderly person’s groceries. Provide a meal for the homeless or for a family who just welcomed a baby.

Offer someone a smile.
It truly is “more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20:35).

Below are a few joys I received this week.  A home-grown tomato from my neighbor, yummy!  A new lily that bloomed, given to me from a friend "Blessing in a Backpack".

I hope you receive many things that bring you joy.

Summer Time

A few gorgeous photos of the Canada fire sunset and sunrise, it makes everything hazy and smells, but it sure makes for some gorgeous photos.

This was yesterday's sunrise.

The Little Things

I love having 1/2 Fridays in the summer, it just gives you a little more down time. I took it somewhat easy this weekend, I was not feeling my best.  I did get the lawn mowed and some housework done.  Had lots of fun hanging out with the sweetest kittens, they are really enjoying being out of the crate and playing. Not much longer and mama will be spayed and free to run and the kittens will go to their furever homes!
This little guy gets to stay with us! "Big Mac"

Just chillin!

I will miss the little guys! I love opening the crate door and watching them run out as fast as they can! It has been a joy this summer watching them grow.

Poor AJ

I was just heading home from work Friday at noon, when I got the call AJ had run into something on the playground at daycare and had a nasty gash in his chin. I met Ali at Convenient care with him, and he needed glue on his cut. He handled it pretty good, did not like the glue as it burned.  He got to go back to the house and play Fortnite with Grandpa after he was done.

Kitty Love!

Our kittens are now 6 weeks old; they are eating soft cat food as well as hard, they use the litter box, and they love to do zoomies around our front porch! I still need a home for two, so if you are interested, please message me.

This little guy "Big Mac" belongs to Roger!

Happy 21st Birthday, Kynedy!

It is so hard to believe my baby turned 21!! She spent the 3rd (after midnight) having a few drinks with friends and Ali.  We joined Nate's family for dinner and drinks at Applebee's.  And soon once we have groceries again, we will celebrate again at the house with tacos, cake and a few drinks.

Storms

It was a crazy week full of storms, power outages, and trees everywhere! I was at work as the storm came in very quickly, we had no phone reception, and could not reach anyone.  As I headed home, I could not believe the amount of damage.  Luckily, we had a couple trees down but none on the house or vehicles, we made it through the 4 days of no power thanks to friends and family!
